Nikon UK position on the D600 dust issue

Point is Fuji released a "fix" and a press release stating the issue. It's unfortunate they can't tell you which serial numbers have issues or not..but they do offer a cost free fix.

I admire Fuji for being at least "open" about this issue.

I personally had problems with Nikon service and frankly terrible AF issues rolled into the mix. I lost confidence not only in the ability of Nikon to provide a working properly out of the box camera, but their ability to solve problems in service. I know of more than a few former D7000 users sick to death of AF issues and oil splats..they just gave up on Nikon

Pentax are in a league of their own, even ignoring letters to UK and Japan HQ...which is just plain ignorant. A company I rate below Nikon for support and customer service

Prior to this the only other company I black listed was Pioneer. After spending quite a large sum of money on a hi fi that had an obvious fault with the tape doors (weak plastic tab that broke) twice repaired in warranty for the same issues. I had it fail again (both doors) and wrote them a letter asking for them to supply parts at "cost" for me to fix. They refused to do this, completely denied the product has a problem, and would not supply parts bar at an inflated cost.

I since sold it (telling the buyer of the issue of course) wrote a letter telling them what I thought about their customer support..and I've never touched a product by that maker again. AND I'm quite happy to spread the word about my experience too.

That was pre-internet days. Now customers have a powerful weapon for makers who try to run and hide from problems...the internet is a powerful tool to do this.

It's simple business sense you have to get a grip and deal with things...just ignoring issues doesn't make them go away in this day of mass internet use.
