Re: K01 is a brick with a lens

I still find it uncomfortable to hold. But more important: it focuses very reliable as you say, even in low light (except when it does not focus at all). It brings back the joy of taking pictures in a dimly lit living room. And it's a joy to use these older MF lenses again. Much better than a split screen.

When I first handled my K-01 I thought it was uncomfortable, but after using it for an hour or so I all of a sudden noticed that the discomfort was gone and that I liked the feel of the new camera. Seems I was trying to hold it like my K20D. Interesting that after getting used to the K-01, the K20D feels a bit clunky by comparison. Personal preference but a pleasant surprise for me since I bought the K-01 simply because it was cheap. Now I've ordered a 2nd one (and bought another for my brother as an Xmas gift). An added bonus. For years I've had a 28-105mm f3.2-4.5 that I really like EXCEPT that it never focused reliably at the longer focal lengths with the istDS, the K100, the K20D or the K7. Interesting that it works perfectly on the K-01. Must be the contrast detect focusing. BTW I also REALLY LIKE that there is no need to test and adjust every lens for back/front focus with the CDAF focusing system and that if anything it seems to do better in most instances than my K20D (hunts less, locks in faster). I thought I was going to miss the viewfinder and sometimes do, but my aging eyes seems to like the liveview focusing (and focus peaking). Guess I like the camera
