OMD EM5 Street shots at Night. Hand Held.
Dec 10, 2012

Hi Forum,

Although, I wouldn't call this low light photography, shooting night scenes without a tripod can be quite a challenge.

In my E3 and E5 days, I would never bump my ISO over the 1000 mark.  Even now with the EM5 my phobia lives on.

Here are a few I took in my recent trip to Indonesia, all taken with the 45f.1.8 attached.

Shoe Repair shop in Denpasar, Bali

Using a prime lens allows you little flexibility in framing your shots especially when stepping back from the scene would mean stepping back into moving traffic, as with the shot above, or finding yourself in someone's soup as in the shot below.

A typical Night Market Stall in Jakarta where just about everything is sold

A Barber shop in Jakarta's famous Gangs (Narrow Laneway)

Youths sharing a Drink at dinner in Labuan Bajo, Flores.

Kids at a Cafe, Labuan Bajo, Flores

Feel free to comment and share your own experiences working with a prime for street shots, especially night scenes hand held.

Cheers,

Ben
