If Canon uses masked photosites to decrease banding, they do that in-camera before recording the raw file. Then, why would they leave something to post-processing? In addition, the 6D has 72 columns on the left side and 37 lines on top. This is far from sufficient to extract valid banding data (it's lost in the noise). For my banding crops I use the full sensor as masked pixels. The only solution for post-processing banding in DPP or PS would be to have banding values already recorded somewhere in the raw file for each line and column, but in this case again why Canon wouldn't simply use it in-camera?

I don't say that my work is perfect and that I make no mistake, but I suggest that you gather more tests, experiments and clues and that you make less assumptions, before claiming that the work of others is invalidĀ

they do.

canon has the entire right side of the sensor and the entire top of the sensor masked.

your banding values aren't accurate / real world because they aren't taking that into account.

as far as I recall, adobe will take into account the row data values.
