Indoor gym: do you carry all your gear or store some of it during the event?

Hi,

I'm new to indoor gym photography, and have gotten permission to shoot a gymnastics meet for the first time. I have a D600, and anticipate using a (rented) 70-200 f/2.8 II for the entirety.

To those of you who have shot something like this (I'm assuming basketball is similar), should I carry only my camera/lens and store my bag/accessories in a corner, or should I carry a backpack with everything?

My preference is to store the bag, but I could bring shorter length lens(es) as alternatives, but am a little afraid of them getting taken.
