But the "3D" effect isn't a result of a particular lens. The effect is a result of a combination of elements in an image. Objects with texture and the primary light source coming from a side angle will demonstrate the effect. When you have subject matter with light and shadow, you can see the effect. Smaller apertures separating your subject from other elements within your composition contribute.

At times some people will try and attribute the effect to a certain lens, but it's an old myth that is just an ego building thing for people who don't know any better.

I have used a very large number of different kinds of lenses over a period of forty years. I own both the 20 and the 25. I also own the Olympus 75 f1.8. It is a notch above the 20 and the 25 but, it won't make an image anymore 3D than another lens of a similar focal length either. The 20 and 25 are both fine lenses in their own right. Enjoy the one that best suits a particular need for a particular outing.
