Nikon User Looking for 7D Feedback

I can heartily endorse the 7d - been using one for over three years .

Some thoughts -

I went thru a steep learning curve because my technique had - ahem - slipped and the 7d is finely tuned - so doesn't take kindly to errors - think exposure, shooting ( hold them still ! ) etc.

Besides good technique there's always good glass. Again 7d is like a ferrari - it likes high octane fuel to run fast. Some good for 7d glass would be

efs 15-85 is ( for everyday / walk about )

ef 50/1.4 ( low light and some use 50/1.8 )

ef 70-200 L is ( f4 is great or - at some extra $$$  - of course f2.8 ver II  for short telephoto )

ef 100-400 L  or  ef 400 ( for those long distance fotos )

Eos 7d is getting on in years and Canon is rumored to be working on 7d mark II - at what specs - well who really knows and will they fit your needs ( eg 18mp FF - it is the only single digit eos camera with a crop sensor  or maybe 24mp or ????? )

That said I've heard some good things about the eos 650d / t4i  - a rebel body ( consumer level ) but with lots of stuff - features - like they came from 60d or 7d and at 18mp similar ( some say maybe just a wee bit better ! ) IQ . And 650d sensor is a newer generation of 18 mp than prior crop bodies. A lower cost option if you want to test the waters so to speak while learning ( waiting for 7d mk ii specs ) .
