Patrick Moore, respected TV Astonomer dies
Very sad news for the world of Asronomy, he was truly a remarkable individual, and host of the longest running program on the BBC - The Sky At Night.
It was his inspiration that got me interested in astronomy as a small child, an interest I still carry on till this day. I was lucky to meet him a few times and even participted in a Gin & Tonic with him in the interval of one of his shows at the Crewe Lyceum Theatre. Another time I met him was in Liverpool at the unveiling of a reconstruction of the William Lassell telescope he was struggling a little with his camera so I offered to send him a few pics (which I did) and received a warm thank you letter typed on his old type writer. He will be sorely missed.
