Dynatram AT-828, good price

There is a local auction that has a Dynatram AT-828 tripod in it. I don't really have one (yea a $10 walmart special). If it is in OK condition what would be a good price for one? Is this one OK for a beginner? I know it is heavy, but I just want something to use as I learn how to use my camera.
