I too am looking for a 35 when I can afford one.
my eyes are on the two new ones: the canon 35 f2 IS and the new sigma 35 f1.4
Have you two considered the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 ? Most who have it love it! It is currently on sale at B&H for $140 off! Only $349 while the sale lasts!
I've looked at it in the past but was put-off by the mediocre image quality reported in the photozone review. I have read actual users who do love it, as you say. I think I'll look at it more closely.
