Re: Why 5DII better than 5DIII?

My read noise chart has no counterpart on DxO site. If you refer to 18% SNR chart, then you are mixing apples and oranges. This DxO SNR chart is related to photon signal and noise in controlled lighting conditions, giving an idea of the sensor quantum efficiency (ability to convert photons into electrons) and has no relationship with the read noise which comes from the electronics and is visible in the deep shadows of a photo. It's read noise that is used for the dynamic range calculation.

About dynamic range, my charts show that the 5DII is ahead at low iso and behind at high iso, with a cross at 3200 iso. At this setting, the difference between the two cameras on the DxO chart is 0.14 Ev, less than the difference I have measured on two 6D. Not so bad finallly...Again, refer to the discussion above about tolerances and variations between cameras, and do not look at these charts with a magnifier

But what about DXO Labs ? They say different ! They say 5D MK3 is better than 5D MK2 at all ISO values for noise and only with 0.2 DR worse between iso 100-1200 and better after iso 1200 than 5D MK2. i'm very curious to see what they has to say about 6D.
