I can make a semi-educated guess. Throng exposure noise is caused by random amplifier noise and exacerbated by temperature and higher ISO settings.  The longer the exposure and shorter the time between exposures, the more heat and, consequently, noise builds upSway our first exposure was while the chip was cool, but as it heated up, the noise I increased and the noise reduction kicked in.  At least that's white I'm guessing.
