Hello Dave,
I believe the last Bodie residents left around 1942.
It's a great place to shoot. Form LA you can make it as a day trip, but to get the most I would suggest spending the night in Mammoth Lakes or Lee Vining.
By the way, I think we're neighbors. I live in Altadena. Your shots of the Pasadena area are really nice!
