As someone pointed out, 60i is good for creating slow motion clips.  The eye interprets roughly 18fps or so as smooth continuous movement.  So at 30fps you can safely slow your footage down to just above half speed, but with 60fps you can really slow it down.  There's a drawback, though, in that 60i has lower resolution, and in the end it's closer to 720p in quality.
