Upgrading from Epson 3800 to 3880

I've been using an Epson 3800 for several years it's showing increasing signs of aging. I'm considering replacing it with a 3880. I can't remember when the 3880 was released and wonder if this line is close to being updated. also wondering if the print head is improved in the 3880 over the 3800. thanks for any feedback.
