Lens tips for low light situations with Nikon 17-55 f2.8
Dec 8, 2012

I own a D90 and rented the lens because I wanted to test it out before deciding on this or the Tamron/Sigma equivalent.

My immediate test was in low light - indoor, no flash, in A mode.  I wasn't expecting the results I got. The shutter speed was extremely long and I needed a flash.  I don't own a speedlight yet so using the pop up produced unsatisfactory results.

What am I doing wrong?

Will I have to use a flash indoors with this lens?

I don't like to go over 3200 in ISO and even with that adjustment the shutter was too slow.

Where can I go to learn more about how to properly use this lens.  I have a few days to work with it.

Thanks!

Nikon D90
