Can see them now. Stunning location & panorama. I agree the D800e is showing more detail e.g. in the distant mountain top (but at 52mm compared to 28mm with X-E1). As you say it will be interesting to see some images taken at the same focal length. I note the Nikon set-up is ~£3500, so pretty good going for the ~£1100 X-E1.

For me it is not about the 3500 vs 1100 as I have both. It is about the weight and size advantage. The image quality is the tradeoff, but the trade off is smaller than it has EVER been (DSLR vs "Small Format" camera) But climbing mountains and doing long hikes, every gram saved counts on my legs and shoulders.

I love Fuji XE1. I love Nikon D800E.

I agree, the X-E1 is top-notch for APS-C in a comapct package. As an 'enthusiast' with neither camera, but a humble - highly portable LX3 (my Nikon FE2 days being long gone), the X-E1+18-55 at ~660g, would no doubt go many more places with me than an amazing, yet heavy at ~1800g, D800+24-70 combo. It's interesting to see how far the X-E1 can push the pro-kit in terms of IQ.  I'm not in the market for a full frame dSLR, and to be honest I'm still wondering if I can justify, given my needs, a X-E1 rather than a less expensive Lumix G5/GH2.
