Premier Elements 9 - can't load earlier projects - can you help please?

Thanks for your detailed reply and all the helpful suggestions. I think you have identified several possible causes, in particular the linking of files and the use of ‘cleaner’ programs, which seem to be feasible sources of the problem. I don’t think it is the version of PER as I’ve been using 9 for quite a long time, but that would explain why I have problems with very old projects done on earlier versions.

I’m not sure about the memory space. I was in my ignorance assuming that 9GB would take care of everything but from what you say I will have to look into this in much more detail; in this context it is very useful to have info on the Steve Grisetti book.

So, very many thanks for your invaluable input. I’ll be investigating further along the lines suggested to try to  get as more definitive answer but it will be over the hols as I’ve have several rush jobs in hand at the moment – hence my initial panic. I'll post any results I amnage to get.
