One thing that people are forgetting is that spots can really show up in post:  Shoot at f/4 then copy the layer and set blend to 'Multiply' in Photoshop - spots start to show up fast.  I was playing with a D800 file that I multiplied two layers and then put a curve on the result - spots before my eyes.  Of course, I'm already spending 30 minutes on the photo so a few extra minutes cloning out something isn't a big deal.

That said, cleaning DLSR sensors is something one does.  Seems like some D600's are really good at creating the little messes.  It would be nice if Nikon actually responded to the issue but that's not the way they do it...
