that's one filthy sensor

so have you cleaned the sensor ? and did it get this dirty again? and how long did that take? ...

my 600 had a surprising amount of dust right out of the box in one corner - I cleaned it - see my post above - has been a normal DSLR ever since

I've cleaned the sensor, and I'm at somewhere above 22k clicks now. Some dust came back, but there's really not enough to bother me. I don't see it unless I stop a lens all the way down to look for it.

I'll tell you what - your water lilly's have pretty heavy amounts of chromatic fringing - but nice shot!

True, but hey, it's not too bad for an old $100 ultrawide lens on a high resolution sensor :). Sharpness is still very good, and overall the pictures can be quite nice if you don't mind the heavy flare, vignetting, and fringing.
