please bear in mind that im old and dont learn new stuff very easily!!!!
I can't really say, because the software written by Nikon does not run on my Linux computers. I can't really compare. As for Linux, the best alternative I found was Bibble.
Thom Hogan did a review of various RAW processing software and found Bibble to be up there in quality with Nikon's software.
Last year, Corel bought Bibble and it's development team, and renamed it AfterShot Pro. Fortunately, they still provide a Linux version, so I'm happy.
