I will comment on the safari aspect of your trip.

Most of the game drives are early in the morning and late afternoon - finishing after sunset.

That said the high ISO of the K5 family (and K30 I guess also) will allow (as others have said) cropping and the use of high ISO so that you can have relatively high speed shutter for animal stop action.

As to lenses, again for the safari, I used the DA 55-300mm which was quite good in many instances; but I would have killed for a 500 mm at times.

You will have a great trip to a special part of Africa and indeed the world - Enjoy.
