With both macro and landscapes DOF usually dominates therefor the advantages of the "E" would be mostly mute.

Personally I find the advantage to be pretty loud (sorry -- I couldn't resist). Regarding DOF, if shooting landscape with a $3000 DLSR, a person should be able to scrape up another $2k for a T/S lens, yes?

Hi John...

...but I have not had both to compare. I'm just going by the plethora of samples.

Then John, IMO the best thing is to think the other way around... "Has the E any disadvantage to the "plain"?... No!" ...Hence there is no other risk than 10%... no? ...Yet, the benefit might be much greater than you think and besides there is another Q involved, "Is the d600 worst than the plain"? ...I can assure you (and the reviews too) that it isn't! ...which exactly what makes the camera obsolete.

Regarding PC TS, agreed but I would feel safe in saying most will not and then again with a little sharpening with the non "E" the differences would not be all that significant. Yes you can also sharpen the "E" and I see the advantages as Reilly points out, no sharpening needed.

It doesn't work that way John... the difference isn't that much because of sharpness as many think... it is more because of microcontrast ...which leads to different processing... thus, completely different results.... even in DR!

The significant differences are comparing both these cameras to their predecessors. Huge! With all that said, I'm sure my choice will be the "E" and I do realize I'm a bit OC.

Hmmm... I would agree with lower Iso... in higher ones I am not sure....
