My F100 went back twice for focusing problems; they put a new mount on and the problem was solved; great camera.

My D200 went back twice for focus calibration; they got it right the second time.  Great camera; very reliable.  Like the CCD look of the images.  Lots of noise in low light.

My D800 went back three times for focus calibration; think/hope they got it right this time.  Also went back once to get the dirt out from under the focus screen they left after the second calibration.  Great detail in FX, nice construction, nice video, pretty good performance in low light.  Love the flexibility of the crop modes.

I think the perception is valid that Nikon has a QC problem because two out of three of their latest FX releases have had significant and well publicized problems.  Heck, I've been a loyal Nikon user since the early '90s and I have that perception.
