How much better is the overall image quality of the 24-70 II in real world terms?

Can a 24-105 owner "get there" with a little Lightroom or do you feel that the 24-70 II truly stands apart in overall IQ?

I don't care about MTF charts, weight differences, or value judgements relative to this particular question.

Curious about the IQ "bottom line".
