Ok, I'll try it make it much simpler. Fuji reduces noise in their shots by having you shoot in M mode .... reduced resolution. Think of it as ... instead of the camera shooting in native 16mpx (for the sake of discussion) ... it shoots in 8mpx. The intended or unintended consequence in a cleaner ... albeit less detailed shot.

Think of it this way... if what I'm saying is incorrect .... why do ALL the expert EXR shooters tell you to shoot in M mode at higher ISO? Hmmmmmmm??

Another way to look at it ... all the premium pinhead sensor camers use 12mpx or less

Nikon P7700, P7100, etc.

Canon Powershot G15, G12, etc

Both Nikon and Canon are fully capable of packing more pixels... far more pixels on those sensors .... yet they don't. In fact, Nikon has a 16mpx sensor that is SMALLER than the P7700's sensor .... and you know what? It shows ..... noise that is.
