LX7 First Light..

LX7 arrived a day early. Outstanding. With me, stuff is always late, or lost. Opened the box, popped in the battery, put the thing in auto, and went out to shoot (I figured I would figure out how to format the card later). The toughest part of the learning curve for this old SLR shooter was learning to move my arms to compose. I've always moved my head to compose. An interesting experience.

Regarding the DPReview review of this camera. The menus are cumbersome at first, then they start making sense. Now, the menu structure is easy to navigate. DPReview also noted that the thumbwheel had a rough feel to it. The thumbwheel in my LX7 works smoothly. No problems.

Shot an ISO 800 RAW, just to see how SilkyPix did with it. No problems whatsoever, SilkyPix did a nice job, except for this. SilkyPix will only output jpegs, I suppose the want a few $$$ from me before I get TIFF. Owell, it was in there anyway.

OOC jpegs taken in iAuto do indeed look surprisingly good. HDR works nicely, Handheld Night Shot works nicely, too. Can't find the panorama function in the menus yet, maybe it's time to take a peek at the manual.

Here are four pics, the first three in Auto, the last one taken in aperture priority. Very little processing, crop and resize. WB was slightly cool, corrected in PS.

AUTO,HDR on this one-

AUTO

AUTO, MACRO

APERTURE PRIORITY

All and all, a wonderful little camera with a terrific lens. I would recommend the LX7 to anyone. Time to open up the manual..

Thanks for the look.
