See my post about the Auto D-Lighting and Brightness.

This is where the D600 differs from recent Nikon DSLR's in that the brightness/contrast is now independant of the Auto D-Lighting. Before with Auto D-Lighting activated, the Brightness and Contrast was set by the Auto D-Lighting

This maybe why some photos on the D600 look washed out, the brightness for the scene is too high. A quick change in NX2 to the brightness slider shows the difference.
