And one of the reasons why I will probable leave it on for my final shot is because of what Lightshow had mentioned above. It is easy to fix a bad pixel when everything else around it is basically the same. But if the bad pixel showed up somewhere on the pier it would be a little more difficult to fix.

I haven't used my NEX-3 for extended shutter, but I use my A55 a lot. My choice: Long Exposure NR: Off. This results in zero turnaround time, and no issue with hot pixel either.
