RX1 is even more expensive if the photos are rubbish!

I know the answer to this, too. If you're married, ask your wife!

Otherwise, ask yourself: what can't I do with my current camera? And will the new camera be able to do that and I will be able to know how to make it do that?

For example, when I first moved from a point-n-shoot to a DSLR, I wanted a camera that could do a better job in low light situation. When I wanted to get the RX100, I asked myself (I don't have a wife, I have a husband, so I was clear for that first part) what could it do that my a55 couldn't do? The answer to that was, it could go everywhere with me without giving me back problems.
