I got a new XE1 with the 18-55mm F2.8 ois zoom yesterday.

I thought I'd do a comparison shoot with my D800E, the ultimate high resolution machine.

I took several panoramas. I was unable to find the RAWs let alone convert them. Silky Pix did not seem to detect them on the camera. I am sure they are there as the camera was set to fine+RAW any suggestions there?

On this shot the Nikon D800E was RAW plus 24-70 F2.8ED pro lens at 52mm. It was accidentally zoomed in so both not done at the same focal length. I have other panos where they were so I'll process them over the next few days.

Here are the results using jpegs for the Fuji, wider focal length so that gave the D800E a head start.

Despite that the XE1 has done quite well. The D800E is clearly better but not as massively as I expected and perhaps with the other things equal even less so.

Greg.

Can see them now.  Stunning location & panorama.    I agree the D800e is showing more detail e.g. in the distant mountain top (but at 52mm compared to 28mm with X-E1).  As you say it will be interesting to see some images taken at the same focal length.  I note the Nikon set-up is ~£3500, so pretty good going for the ~£1100 X-E1.
