24MPix = 6000 x 4000 Pixels, they are spread on a sensor of 36mm x 24mm (for D600)
DX sensor has a dimension which is about 24mm x 16mm: it is 1.5 times smaller than FX in linear dimension (nearer to 1.52 in reality), but 1.5²=2.25 times smaller in area (nearer to 2.31 times in reality).
MPix scale with area, so a 24MPix FX sensor has 24/2.31=10MPix on DX area.
