Re: Useless test

I would love to see other tests done by other users of these cameras. Mine is just one quick and dirty.

Im not sure if you guys read all the nitty gritty details of the test. In the very low light shooting target, the D600 failed completely (as in not even a beep or other lock confirmation). 5Dii was twice as long. To discount the entire test because the beep was used is a bit of a stretch, dont you think?

That beep we hear, similarly to the green circle in the viewfinder in one shot mode, means that the camera has determined a set definition of distance to the target. Is it always accurate or perfect? Of course not. But in the case of the 6D, it was consistently indicating a focus lock in low light, faster than the others. The 5Diii was also very, very good.

Focusing accuracy would be if the cameras focusing systems are in fact lining up with that measurment of distance.

Two different things.

My test assumes the second half is working correctly. Images may have helped, but really what is the point if the D600 couldnt even get basic focus lock in these low light shots? All of them would have been blurry. That test shot that shows target 3 was taken with the 6D.

The take home message, is that the 6D performs central focus point is able to measure target distance in very low light, and therefore, if everything else is working correctly within the range of acceptable variation, it should be in focus.
