Not really.., obviously upgrading the processor will take the maximum out of sensor, but this doesn't mean that a better sensor won't improve performance if used with an older processor... updating the firmware is obviously the easiest thing on earth these days... For a sensor to be user interchangeable, each sensor available will have to "inform" the processor of its identity...

We already have the D800/600 that can function as a FF or APS-C sensor camera. Nikon could easily reduce the size of the D600 down to close to D3200 size with the 24MP D600 sensor. That way those DX fans can have the best of both worlds.

I don't believe that there are photographers among DX fans... I do believe that some photographers chose DX to be able of financing their passion, but if they could have FX at the price, they wouldn't consider DX at all... A DX fan is a joke IMO...
