just got this link from a friend which shows that the dreaded sensor dust is not just patented by Nikon but by canon too, they want to trump nikon so they added that function to their top of the league baby. why nikon why? why canon why ?

a great function to have in a new camera no matter what brand,i am waiting to replace my d700 with a d600 or a 5d3 ,the dust problems shifted my options from d600 to d800 or 5d3 .
why dont the manufacturers do some durability test like IKEA does with their stuff. in last 4 years of visiting IKEA every time i go there i see a glassbox with a piece of matress in it with a boxing glove on a piston punching it every 20 sec or so, they display the pieces with resulting damage done after say 20000´th 50000th and 100000 the punch.just in case you know what happens when you start punching your Matress .
what i am saying is,i know they do these tests before they start the mass production and sale, but why not them keep a couple of cams running for a few months taking pics at regular intervals and see what all problems arises, that way they dont have to blindly deny and anger the customers when they start experiencing troubles.
is it too much to ask when someone has to pay that much for a toy?
cheers, Ken
