Evidence of Sony censor?

Initially I was dubious about the origin of the sensor and I assumed that logically it had to be a Panasonic option, and I received no shortage of stick for posting my opinion. Then when it appeared that an Olympus executive had declared that it was indeed a Sony sensor, I assumed that was that.

However there are a number of doubts now including the image you post above, for surely if Sony was responsible for the sensor in the E-M5 the best ever sensor in an Olympus camera this collaboration would be worth a mention. Now , that the GH3 is out and looks very similar to the E-M5 I do not think that Panasonic would consider using a Sony sensor in its high end model.

In the end it doesn’t really matter other than fodder for forum spats. The E-M5 is a great camera as is the GH3 .Contrary to what some Olympus fans would suggest the GH2 is not that far behind the E-M5 and reaching this level of performance is well within what can be achieved by Panasonic developers since the GH2 came out in 2010.

Now, I am not jumping in with both feet, just suggesting that things are not quite as transparent as they are claimed. It would be rather embarrassing to Panasonic to use a Sony sensor
