How could I have improved the quality of this image ?

Took this in evening as is obvious, Canon 450D, 18-55IS lens, 430EX flash, on P,others taken on AV @ 1/200 @ 5.6 similar results, ISO 400, or having regard to the time of day etc this is as good as it can be. Thanks for any advice
