Just got my 6D with 24-105 f/4L, replacing my 7D with 27-55 f/2.8.
The 6D is slightly lighter and feels good. Only played a bit so far, but the low noise at much higher ISO speeds will more than compensate for the loss of 1-stop in-camera (albeit better DOF control with 2.8, of course).
For family shots, you're going to love the WiFi. Just a couple of button pushes and I can connect my iPhone and view all pictures on the camera memory card. You can rate the images or delete bummers MUCH easier on the iPhone than in-camera. Also, you can pick an image and instantly email it, your quality of photo sharing is really going to jump.
I myself do a lot of astrophotography. The liveview on the iPhone will WAY MORE than compensate for a pivoting screen of a 60D when it comes to fine focusing. Focus is a pain in astrophotography.
