Switching off externals

I have two G-Tech drives daisy chained to my MBP as backups. What is boring is that every time I switch the MBP off I have to also switch off the power to the externals. This means either ejecting the drives first making sure that  a TM backup isn't in progress. Or powering off the MBP first and waiting until it closes down which takes a bit of time, and then switching of the power on the back of the two drives. Both take a bit of time and are tedious. it would be really nice if powering down the MBP also took care of ejecting/switching off the externals. Is there any way I can do this?
