iMac: Now What?

My iMac is a little over four years old.  When it finally dies or gets so slow it needs to be replaced, I used to think I'd simply get another. But I see that Apple in all its wisdom has decided to delete the DVD drive from its desktop iMac (it is a desktop, for cripes sake, not a ultralight laptop!) for some misbegotten reason. So how will I load Photoshop and all the memory intensive programs? How will I save lots of images to a DVD?  Please don't tell me to buy Photoshop off the Cloud: the last thing I want to do is have to pay Adobe every month for a program I buy once every two or three years.  And don't suggest I buy a Mac Pro; the last thing I can afford is a computer that costs as much as a good used car.

...sorry; rant over.  I guess I'll wind up with a windows system....
