Ethnic based Immigration Data

Just to follow up on a recent thread we had on compiling ethnic based data here in Canada.

Yesterday, Canada arrested & detained 50 Romanian refugee claimants...who entered this country from the USA via vehicles.

When asked IF these Romanians were actually "Roma" by TV reporters.

The Canadian immigration minister said...

"This government does not keep track of immigration arrivals by ethnicity and has absolutely no reason to do so. Therefore, I cannot answer your question"

​Whether or not these new arrivals are actually Roma is yet unknown...however, my point is...that here in Canada...we do not compile (or use in an official manner)...statistics based upon ethnicity (or race as you Yanks call it)...to distinguish between people.
