DSLT cameras meter more accurately than DSLR cameras?

A guy mentioned that with his Nikon D700 the metering can be off up to +- 3/4 of a stop. On the other hand, with the A65 almost always the metering is spot-on. Could it be a general thing of all DSLT cameras because they use the main sensor for metering, while a DSLR relies on a separate sensor and meters therefore less accurately?
