You mention worrying about the pace of change to which I would add that the pace of change in the technology of photography (not just sony) and the pace of change in technology in general is a major exciting challenge.  Technology is evolving at such rapid pace that it is difficult to adjust to or envision its effect in the future of human interaction.  Photography in my experience is a form of interaction with people, nature and technology - of these three technology is moving at the fastest rate.
