Yes but that group of people aren't the topic of this discussion. Again we are speaking about those who bought DSLRS for all the wrong reasons, then, don't use them for all of the "right" reasons.

Talk to a lot of people who like to photography wildlife, especially birds, and the kit lenses are not of much use.

If someone came out with something with like a 1/1.63" sensor & a fixed 300 mm or larger lens, but sacrificed wide angle & macro, there would be a market for it. Too specialized an item? Don't know.
