24-105mm EF 1.4L

Hi all, first time posting on here and I really hope you can give me some guidance. I am fairly new to photography (about a year) and i have recently upgraded my equipment to a Canon EOS 60D with a double kit lens package of 18-55mm and a 55-250mm. I am really happy with the picture quality I am getting from them, but I decided to spend a few more pounds and splash out on a 24-105mm EF 1.4L. Now from reading all the reviews on this lens before i bought it I was expecting to be blown away with the picture quality but to honest i am finding it really hard to find any difference between this lens and my kit lens. And i would even go as far and say that my kit lenses are better.
This picture was taken mounted on a tripod and at F16 ISO 100. I focused on the third tree in from the left then recomposed. Granted it doesn't look that bad on here but at 100% crop it's not what i was expecting.
Could it be possible i have a bad copy of a lens, and would callibration sort it out.
Thanks for taking the time to read this
