Back in 2008 the theory on sharpening was to sharpen the image once as the last step in the process. Now the prevailing workflow from “the Experts” is a multi-pass approach as follows:

  1. Sharpen for source
  2. Sharpen for content
  3. If needed perform localized sharpening
  4. Sharpen for output
