True, but once it's made the droplet is pretty convenient, to drop the files on it. It would be a great feature if Aperture had a similar droplet kind of action feature. And creating the preset (at least in Aperture) still takes a little creation time.  More to my dislike in Aperture is the way the presets get listed when you go to retrieve them, but that's another thing.

Also, and no doubt it's just me, but I find the batch renaming in Aperture to be a tad overly complicated compared to a standard renaming utility, which I wish it more resembled. But you're right, you can do it well enough in all of these apps, some with extra twists, in whichever environment one likes best. The ones I've left behind are where we aren't allowed to set a maximum largest side parameter, only a maximum height or width.
