Hi Dave ,

I was until recently a wedding and event shooter and have used Nikon FF since it came out. I am delighted by the D800 and well settled with my FF gear.

The GH3 is intriguing, for stills I am not really that interested, now the video is a different matter.

We think the video quality of the GH2 and G5 and GH3 is lots better than the video quality from our D800's and it's so much easier to use and to travel with.  And, like Will said, having AF when shooting video is a requirement not a request.  When I have to shoot video with the D800 (or we have a D7000 too) I snap on the Cinevate ring lever thing to manually focus.  Works really well.

When ,I first bought into mFT with the GF1 in 2009. I was one of the who cares about video crowd, now video is my main interest with mFT . I have been and still am very satisfied with the video output from the hacked GH2 and I am not sure if the £1200 body only asking price for the GH3 is “for me “worth it.

Personally, me too.  the studio is prolly going to move into GH3's and sell off the GH2's.  I thin I will buy one of them for me. Video wise, I don't see $700 difference between a clean used GH2 and a new GH3?

I typically use the GH2 on tripod or other stabilisation, with manual focus and exposure edited in Premiere Pro { that, took a bit of getting used to } and output as Blu-ray , the results have been very rewarding making me wonder just how much better I need. Interesting times for all of us

Excellent point.  We shoot video in the studio here off of Plasma screens on the walls with HDMI cables connecting the GH2s to the TV's. This is how we match exposure and WB and even focus and I tell you that we do not need better video than the GH2s.  Low light and AF is better on the GH3s for sure, but I have been SO happy with the GH2's for 2 years now.
