what camera is best for my needs?

My wife is a Realtor and needs a camera to take better interior photos with. The iPhone photos actually look acceptable for outdoors, but the interior shots are a challenge.

She needs (I think):

• a wide angle lens (to fit in as much of the interior as possible)
• good color balance under variable indoor lighting (mixed natural and artificial usually)
• the ability to hand hold the camera and get clear shots with the light available
• probably a good flash to smooth things out?

We borrowed a Canon EOS Rebel T3 with 18-55mm lens. It seemed OK except for the very wide variation in color balance between shots when used in auto mode.

My question: would there be a better camera for her needs than that Canon?

If not, is there a way to get more consistent exposure and color balance from shot to shot?
