Here in Canada, part of the policy is to replace any defective component in addition to the tube for the same price. The last go around, the circuit board went and it had to be replaced as well. I believe something else went too and they replaced it. The service tech told me I got luck with all the replacement parts and said I got essentially a new flash.

Those 800's are a great flash and I wouldn't hesitate to get it fixed and with the extra money saved, you can put it towards something else.
